#8 Some Depression is Normal and OK

Some people think that ministry, although hard and tiresome at times is generally an exciting and uplifting time, where joy and peace abounds.

If you think this, GO READ YOUR BIBLE.

Many of the Psalms are of lament and sorrow. Lamentations is all about lament as its title suggests. Ask Jerremiah how he found being a prophet of God. And ask Jesus how he felt in Gethsemane and I’m sure it was hard and he felt some form of depression.

There will be times when life is hard, bad stuff happens and the world is against you. I know of a few friends who have found ministry a very depressing time. Many times a pastor feels very alone, although he is surrounded by many people.

Have you felt times of depression or lament in your life of ministry?

This is post eight of ten in a series called ‘10 things I wish I knew about ministry when I was 25‘ (#1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7)
